This blog may evolve but it's initial purpose is to provide a place for us to publish links to the videos of our recorded classes and the PDF files of the PowerPoint slide decks for these presentation. Our presentation are housed at YouTube in our channel - Fresno North Stake Family History Center Trainings.  These are PowerPoint presentations and PDF documents of these slide decks are located here for your convenience. All work hosted here is created under the copyright of Robert Givens.  The material is free to be shared as long as credit for it's creation is retained.

What's New at the BYU Family History Technology Lab (October 9, 2024)

We had a fun tour of the programs and activities at the BYU Family History Technology Lab (just Google it.) The Lab was created as a place to try different and unique applications of the data found at FamilySearch.  Most of us are familiar with Relative Finder but there are a couple dozen other applications that are helpful and fun.  Watch this presentation so you can become familiar with these resources that can be used with the patrons you work with.  Untangling messes created by bad merges in the FamilySearch Family Tree can be messy.  This class will provide guidance on how to undo bad merges.  It will also introduce a brand new tool that has been created by FamilySearch to help us in this task.  It is called Merge Assist and is an outstanding tool that can really help us determine if a merge is bad and needs fixing.
