Getting Grounded as a New Temple and Family History Consultant (New Consultant Lesson 1) January 28, 2026

This class takes a look at all the different places FamilySearch has located materials to help new consultants know what their calling entails.  Because these materials are not all in one place and the materials vary in content from site to site it is important that we are aware of all the places to turn for authorized support and training. We will conclude with suggestions we have found helpful as we have worked with new consultant over the years.  This class focuses on what your calling as a Consultant entails - not on the skills you need to develop.  These skills will be addressed in future lessons.  This is an excellent class for new consultants, consultants who are asked to help train new consultants, and leaders responsible for helping consultants.

Temple Ordinance Opportunities (a new tool at FamilySearch) (May 14, 2025)

Temple Ordinance Opportunities appears to be part of a wide-spread initiative the Church is conducting in providing multiple ways to interest and encourage members to become engaged in taking their own family members to the temple. This tool is still in the exploratory phase but shows a lot of promise in helping patrons find relatives to submit by going to their fan chart and choosing a line to explore for people with green temples or the yellow temples (meaning more information is needed.)  Come join us and learn where to find this tool and how to best use it. Organizing Your Stake and Ward for Temple & Family History Work (February 11, 2025)

Many of us who work to facilitate temple and family history work in the church serve within the umbrella of stakes and wards/branches. To be effective, the stake and ward leaders need to follow the Temple and Family History guidelines in the General Handbook.  This class will take us through those guidelines and provided suggestions as to how to implement effective temple and family history programs at the stake and ward level.
